Obtain paint used for plastic models. Paint over your stripes with that then spray a clear acrylic sealer over the entire faceplate. This will help to keep your stripes on for a while but they will still eventually chip.I want to get a cell phone faceplate and paint over it with nail polish?
Yes, but you'll have to reapply it periodically. It stays a little bit longer if you paint a clear coat over it.
No go to a hobby store and buy a special paint for plastic it doesn't cost that much. Nail polish is bad
The new faceplate is smooth and shiny. What you want to cover with nail polish needs to be lightly sanded. It will then hold the polish. You could use an emery board to do the sanding. I hope you have a lot of patience.
It might chip over time but you could touch it up. Sounds like a very patient job! You might want to try a model paint like they use for plastic model cars. Look in the model plane/car section at Wal-Mart or whatever. It would last longer.
If you want to stick with nail polish, use a q-tip and some acetone (nail polish remover) and wipe down the shine from the stripes first.

I think it would chip. Go buy some spray paint they make ones that are specific to plastic. If you specifically wanted the nail polish cover I would prime the plastic cover you were buying before painting on the nail polish, and then I would use clear finisher to make the nail polish not chip as much.
